New Era. New Change.

These past 9 months or so my life felt as if it not only turned upside down but inside out up right then sideways and then repeat. I say this though in a very good way, due to the change in my environment in all aspects of my life I am lets say final at my commonplace. A place where I needed to be a long time ago. Now I'm so sad to say I have not shot a photo since September for just pure enjoyment for what photography brings into my life. I have though shot a couple friends and co workers kids a couple months ago but not for pure enjoyment. I need to someday soon get back out there and go shoot for fun and remember why I began loving this art. New change has already happened I just need to shoot it now and gain back all my skills like coloring in the lines for the first time. Fuck the saying "just like riding a bike", I mean come on do your remember how hard it is/was to color inside the lines ? Shit I was  a young artist you think I stayed in the lines, riding a bike ha.

YEAR 2011

To all my fans, friends, family, and to many more I want to take a moment and thank you for all your support in everything I have done these past year(s). It has been an amazing trip across country to start my new art career and life with my amazingly beautiful fiance. Everyday is a challenging unknown event that I try conquer within creating art/photography life.

I have creatively stumbled back into doing some pop art portrait paintings using Liquitex Acrylic paints, Chartpak AD Fine Tip Markers, and Terracotta paint markers. ( will have pics up soon )

For photography, I recently received a gift for Christmas which was a Holga 135BC 35mm film camera. With this old school low tech camera brings more creative ideas to the canvas. In which, I will fill with my own style of photography and design. ( thank you Lauren )

Girl Portrait Power

Mini fun photo shoot with my great friend Aurora.

This represents the youthful
young deep inspiring teenage
girls. So much to deal with
so much to gossip about
so much to learn, listen, love,
about everything that comes
into there lives. As a teenage
girl lays around in her room
listening to her favorite music
she dreams of what she wants
to become. Sometimes you just
need to close your eyes and dream
your upcoming realities.

Oh to be young again and dream
of what you wanted to become.

with all my love & respect
Lex.

Colorado Bound

As I am free of tests and projects forced by college teachers and mentors I have began to realize that I have to make up my own tests and projects for myself. A hard thing to kick into your own realization after college yet it's right there in front of you and if you don't pursue your own projects you'll be left last sort a speak in the art world. Coming from some artists that I know told me to draw or take a picture at least once a day. Cause if you don't you'll become lazy and unmotivated to do what you love. Also, when you dream while sleeping at night or even taking a nap, right when you wake up write down your dream and that may become a picture you can create through a drawing or photography.

After driving 1200 miles across the country I finally know where I may belong for while. With great friends, family, scenery, and with many creative people feels great. I hope all you artists feel something like I have wherever you end up and keep up your tests and projects.

*photos soon to come *

cheers to you my new town and home,
your new neighborhood artist/photographer,

Alex Harwood

May 15th Graduation

After almost 25 years I have finished school. That doesn't mean I have finished learning at any means. I owe these years to my parents that have been the biggest supporters I could ever have ask for. They drove me one way and that was just to succeed in whatever I wanted to for a career. I went to 3 different colleges within 6 years and finally graduated at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Digital Art and Photography Major. In short I got a BFA in studio Arts with a DAP Major. Now my girlfriend and I have decided to move to Colorado where I'll begin an internship with a digital art and photography studio while working part or full time at a custom framing shop ( where I have 2 yrs of experience in ).

I should also congratulate my fellow 1100 or so classmates in there success as well ! cheers to you ! and good luck in the future.
